HOME OF BOK FU DO - SYSTEM OF THE WHITE TIGER - EST. 1967
This first excerpt is from a letter written to master Buckley by grandmaster lee and the second is grandmaster lee’s writing, “Black belt masters can change the outer aspects of their lives by changing the inner beliefs of their minds”. Enjoy!
“We are motivated to the degree that the decisions we make are our decisions. To be honest with ourselves, to sincerely know what we really want, is the key to motivation. We are always in a position to decide. We can decide to do something or we can decide to do nothing. The choice is ours. you can choose to be lazy or you can choose to be ambitious. Stop to think about it again. Don’t you do your own choosing? We may think there is will power involved, but more likely…Change is due to want power. Wanting the new addiction more than the old one, wanting the new me in preference to the person I am now. You will suddenly realize that the reason you never changed before was because you didn’t want to. We do pretty much whatever we want to. It’s so hard when i have to and so easy when i want to. We accomplish things by directing our desires, not by ignoring them. How badly do you want it?
Realize what you really want. It stops you from chasing butterflies and puts you to work digging gold. the inner thought coming from the heart represents the real motives and desires. These are the causes of action.
The most important thing about man is what he believes in the depth of his being. This is the thing that makes him what he is, the thing that organizes him and feeds him, the thing that keeps him going in the face of unknown circumstances, the thing that gives him resistance and drive.”
“Your true black belt attitudes and beliefs will always influence what you experience in life. Your success and greatest achievements will always be in direct relationship to your total black belt mindset. people, what you truly believe in the deepest part of your soul is what you will become.
I hope you will come to see that this black belt master’s mindset is crucial in every aspect of your life both in the school and out. Your beliefs are really self-imposed limits that as black belts must be examined and then transcended to become a master. Remember one of my favorite sayings: “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re going to be absolutely right.” think about it.”
