HOME OF BOK FU DO - SYSTEM OF THE WHITE TIGER - EST. 1967
This is a beautifully written piece of bok fu philosophy by master buckley that should hit home with everyone, no matter your age or rank.
“Richard Lee black belts are positive thinkers. they have a ‘can do’ attitude that magnetizes good people around them. they don’t ask or demand respect without first giving it. They bring an unmistakable energy to any sought after goal and put their absolute best into it. They are relentless about it. There is an aura that permeates their outer self because it burns deep from within their inner self. When the weak gather to try and bring them down, they are like the highly trained athlete that is concentrated so deep within themselves, that they fail to hear the jeering of the tens of thousands of fans in the stands. It is simply Richard Lee black belt thinking. This kind of thinking isn’t something that can manifest itself through false beliefs and half-baked efforts. For the Richard Lee black belt, it’s what it means to them. They carry their vision of ‘what can be’ to a group with the conviction of their own beliefs, knowing full well that they can only expect the same kind of tireless, persistent, committed, dedicated, determined, passion filled all out effort that they inspire first within themselves.
getting a Richard Lee black belt is a self realized thing. you don’t get the black belt and suddenly realize ‘i’m a black belt’. It is a culmination of all you have gone through to be who you are. Only through this sometimes heart wrenching, gut spilling, blood shedding, and tear jerking process can we come to realize the total harmony that lives within us all, but is discovered by so few.”
One of my favorite things about bok fu do is the fact that it can keep us young! being around young people, keeping yourself fit and full of energy, and having a positive attitude are all keys to the fountain of youth! this video is a perfect reminder that the way you see yourself can dictate your attitude in life.
