Mrs. Jurewicz Buckley found her way to East West in 1996. She has been an instructor since 1998 and earned her black belt in 2005. Mrs. Buckley has been a disciple of Grandmaster Lee since 2004. She is currently a 2nd degree black belt in Bok-Fu-Do and holds the rank of 2nd Tuan (black sash) through the World Kuo Shu Federation. Mrs. Buckley earned certification through the World Kuo Shu Federation as an International “A level” Referee in 2008.

Mrs. Buckley has been an Executive Referee for the International Kuo Shu Championships in Baltimore, MD from 2007-2012. She was one of only two females to serve as Executive Referee for the Lei Tai (full contact) divisions during the 2nd TWKSF World Kuo Shu Tournament in Singapore in 2006. Mrs. Buckley was also an Executive Referee for the Lei Tai at the 3rd TWKSF World Kuo Shu Tournament in Germany 2009. More recently, Mrs. Buckley was the only female Executive Referee for the Lei Tai at the 4th TWKSF World Kuo Shu Tournament in Malaysia, 2012. She also was an Executive Referee at the 5th TWKSF World Kuo Shu Tournament in Argentina, 2015.

Mrs. Buckley has represented the United States in world and international competition on three occasions. In 2003, she was a member of the United States National Lei Tai Team that competed in the 1st TWKSF World Kuo Shu Championships in Brazil. She also competed at the European Kuo Shu Championships in Germany in 2003 and at the 2nd TWKSF European Kuo Shu Cup in Switzerland, 2006. Mrs. Buckley represented the United States in forms and weapon competition at the 2nd TWKSF World Kuo Shu Tournament in Singapore in 2006. She competed in forms, weapons and two-man sets at the International Kuo Shu Championships in Baltimore, MD from 1996-2006 and as a lei tai competitor in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003. Mrs. Buckley was a member of the USKSF group that traveled to China in 2002, 2004 and 2010.

Says Master Newman, “Mrs. Buckley has a creative spirit that has been invaluable to the growth of East West. Aimee has made a name for herself in the international community through her dedication to traveling around the world with East West to various tournaments and refereeing these high level competitions.”

As a personal trainer, Mrs. Buckley has helped to develop several students to instructor level and produced Bok Fu Do black belts Stuart Moore, Wendy Campbell, Karen Silverman and Kaylee Baker.

“East West has been a second home for me since I graduated from college in 1996 and moved back to the Bay Area. It has always been a place where I have had an opportunity for continued growth. Through Bok Fu Do, I have made many of my closest friends and have been given amazing opportunities for travel and experiences that I believe to be exceptional.”

Mrs. Buckely graduated from U.C. Santa Cruz in 1996 with a degree in Psychology. She earned her teaching credential from Cal State Sacramento in 2000 and currently has a career in education as a high school Special Education teacher.
