On behalf of Grandmaster Lee, Master Buckley and Master Newman, we would like to congratulate all of our Richard Lee’s West Coast Team Members that participated in the US International Kuo Shu Championships in Maryland from July 29th-31st, 2016. This was the 27th year that our school attended this prestigious tournament and it is an important part of our organization’s history. It is the one tournament that we commit to each year and a tremendous amount of effort goes into the team’s preparation for this tournament. This year’s results speak for themselves, but what we are most proud of is each of the team member’s spirit and chi. It was undoubtedly the most enthusiastic group we have ever taken and the team’s presence could be felt throughout the entire tournament.
This year our students’ outstanding results lead to an overall 1st place finish in Adult Forms, a 2nd place finish in Lei Tai and a 2nd place finish in Youth Forms. Most significantly, our team won the coveted Wang, Cheuh-Jen Grand Championship Trophy, making our school the best overall school in the nation. The US International Kuo Shu Championships is undoubtedly the most prestigious Chinese Martial Arts tournament in the country, and possibly the world, so it is with great pride that we have won the cup an unprecedented 13 of the last 15 years!
The US International Kuo Shu Championships are held the last weekend of July every year. Next year’s tournament is scheduled for July 28th-30th, 2017. We hope that all of our students can join for an incredible weekend of martial arts and personal growth.
