Bok Fu Do West Coast Regional Kuoshu Tournament Fall 2014

Bok Fu Do West Coast Regional Kuoshu Tournament Fall 2014

Our Bok Fu Do West Coast Regional Kuo Shu Tournament – Fall 2014 was a huge success. It was held at Acalanes High School in Lafayette on Sunday, November, 16th. We had 5 Bok Fu Do schools in attendance including East West Alamo, East West San Ramon, East West Lafayette, KO Kung Fu and Nunez Martial Arts Academy.
We’d like to congratulate all of the competitors that took part in the tournament. Tournaments are a very important part of your growth as a martial artist, and we are proud of everyone’s efforts. It was a great competition and it was easy to see the progress in our students that participated. This was our largest student participation in several years; we are pleased to see so many of our students recognizing the benefits of tournament competition. We had a fantastic demonstration from our instructor staff and our Kids Special Squad and Top Gun Trainee class put on a joint demonstration. It was a huge lineup and brought together two of our biggest classes in the school for one great demonstration. Following the Instructor demo, we had a very special presentation where Mr. Villasenor and Mrs. Evangelist earned their instructor rank. For the first time ever, we had a parade of schools where students were able to march with their team leader to represent their school. The tournament concluded with a presentation of school awards with East West Alamo coming in 1st, East West Lafayette placed 2nd, and East West San Ramon took 3rd.

Also a big thank you to all of our officials and volunteers. Without each of you, our tournament would not run nearly as smoothly. We really appreciate your time and energy in helping make the tournament a success. Finally, a very special thank you to our tournament director, Ms. Mannion, and assistant director, Mrs. Poon for all your hard work and leadership!.

We will have many opportunities coming up for tournament experience. East West will be hosting our annual sparring tournament on January 24th. The annual Winter Friendship Tournament will be held at KO Kung Fu on Saturday, January 31st. We will also be attending the International Kuoshu Championships, held in Baltimore from July 24-26th.”
