11 more to go!

11 more to go!

Today was the first day of our 12 Days of Bok Fu Spirit! I hope you all enjoyed the day as much as I did. I’ve already heard some fantastic things you have all done, and just on the first day! We still have 11 more to go… Below is my act of kindness for 12/20. Post yours to comments on the bottom of this page! And make sure to check out to friends and classmates random acts under comments too!

So here is my act for the day. I decided to reconnect with a very close childhood friend that I had not talked to in MANY years! I tracked her down, called her and spent over an hour reminiscing, talking about where our lives have taken us, and most importantly, telling her what a significant impact she has had on my life. Although time and distance had separated us and it had been years since we last spoke, it felt like no time had gone by at all and we were able to pick our friendship right back up where we left off. I know that the kind words I spoke to her make her feel as happy as I did!

ONE act of kindness is all it takes…make a difference! Get excited for day 2 tomorrow!

Wishing a very Happy Hanukkah to all of our friends that begin celebrating today!

Act of Kindness – December 20

(Are we supposed to post December 20th acts here? Or under yesterday’s post? I’m a little bit confused, since everyone seems to be posting theirs under the other one. The post says to put them here…)

I had just finished a long piano lesson, and I could tell that my piano teacher was pretty tired by the time she was finished and was leaving our home. Just as she was leaving the door, I wished her a happy holidays, and she smiled.

I went to buy a pair of shoes. I tried one pair on, and it didn’t fit. I found a pair that fit, and my mom went to pay for it. While she was paying, I put the shoes that didn’t fit back in the box and gave it to the salesperson to put away.

I came into work this morning and noticed a co-worker struggling to empty some heavy train parts out of the baskets they came in. I walked up and began helping him to remove the parts and place them on the carts for transportation. After we were done he said there are only a select few individuals who would stop and lend a hand and thanked me. It was so special to see the gratitude on his face and the day has been very rewarding since the start

Yesterday I took the opportunity to help everyone on the roads that I drive. I have always driven defensively and fast, which is not something that I am always proud of. So yesterday I drove at or below the speed limit which allowed me the time to be a more courteous and safe driver to everyone else on the road.

It was oddly calming for me and a much better example for my daughter who will be driving my herself very soon. I have every intention of continuing this.

Not sure this totally counts but the spirit of kindness was there. I was trying to park at Broadway Plaza today with my kids in the car. We saw a perfect spot but then I noticed another car backing up, fairly quickly, to grab that spot. I told the kids that since she was obviously in a hurry and we weren’t, I was going to let her have the space. Unfortunately for her, she kept backing up right past the space. She was so frantic and distracted she missed her opportunity for the perfect space. We watched her go past us, then calmly took the spot. We tried 🙂

Today i was at the movie theatre for a birthday party. Then i saw an old lady on a power scooter and she cant open the door.
I open the door and it was very hevy. And she smilled.

Sent an email to a student who left EW awhile ago, just to say hello and ask how he was doing and to wish him and his family happy holidays.
Brought surprise birthday flowers for a friend.

Mrs. Ogata paid for my daughter’s hamburger and milkshake at In ‘n Out and wouldn’t let me pay her back. I jokingly said that she just wanted something to post here. She laughed and said I was right, but she didn’t know how to post to this blog. So here I am, writing her post for her. Two birds with one stone 🙂

Yesterday I went to SR school to work on my materials. The 11am TAC class was overly crowed (now that school out) with many different ranks and only one instructor with two lower level rank trainees. I jumped in and helped out teaching; thought it benefit everyone.

Also, a student who just got her new belt recently was practicing her triple front kick. She expressed her frustration because she was unable to do this kick. I spent some time to show her a few tricks and she was happy to be able to do it after all.

On Dec 21st, I performed “pro bono” treatment on a needy patient.
On Dec 22nd, I was exceptionally mindful when in Mall parking lots, always letting cars and pedestrians have more time. In Best Buy I let a gentleman in front of me in a long line, and then proceeded to have an interesting conversation with him on how to fix our countries economic problems.

Family I house-sat (watered plants, brought mail in) offered to pay me, but I quickly declined. (Sorry haven’t posted on time, been very busy) 🙁
